Quick Holiday Event Ideas

It’s the best time of the year, and your holiday celebrations only need to have some creative planning to create an unforgettable experience. We’re going for value here – inexpensive and effective. Ideas that won’t tie up your time so you can enjoy hosting your guests. We’re building a cohesive ambiance so that the people show show up are as excited as you are.

You don’t necessarily need to break out the strings of christmas lights to have some unique lighting. First of all, dim the lights in your space to about 50% – or unscrew half of your light bulbs. This is a must. Once you have set the stage, you can add any number of small elements that make a big impact. Lamps, candles, or even LED tea lights in any color (less than $1 each) can bring attention to the right places. You can even still use your bundled string of christmas lights and string them behind the chip bowl or in the center of a table. Anything to bring the focus to specific areas.

Your music is one of your most important assets. Either you need to plan out a playlist or use a DJ. Music streaming companies like Spotify have premium services that offer great themed playlists on-demand. Do not forget to consider your music ahead of time! Rushing around the party with a remote or shuffling an ipod can lead to heightened stress levels and a few awkward moments with the sound system. The best parties always have a good mix of background and dance music. If you have no idea, ask someone in advance!

I know you have a screen, so put on the holiday classics! It’s a Wonderful Life, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, or Home Alone, etc. Mute the TV, and plan to show two or three movies throughout the night. It’s a set-and-forget kind of element that can lighten the mood and create a conversation piece for guests. All of a sudden our party took on an AV upgrade with digital displays for the sake of ambiance… Very cool. Heck, this is even a good way to theme your entire party – off of a great holiday film.
iPad Photo BoothiPad Photo Booth – Made Simple
With an iPad or tablet you can easily transform a corner of the party into a full-fledged photo booth! We have had a lot of luck with SimpleBooth Event Edition for the iPad, but there are a number of other apps out there. Pull out all of the hats from your closet and visit your local dollar store for a slew of cheap props. *Make sure to have this area well lit or the photos won’t turn out! Think of how many moments you’ll be able to capture and share with this simple addition.

These are some great DIY ways to upgrade your party, but let us know if you want to take it up even another notch. TEP specializes in custom lighting decor, sound systems, projection or display packages, and complete photo booth solutions.

Wishing you the very best in all your holiday event planning.
Please let us know if we can be of any help!
